How to Set Up a Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram)

This guide explains how to create and connect your Meta Pixel so you can build retargeting audiences directly from your AndR Fan Capture flows.

Here’s a parallel article for Meta, aligned in structure and tone, but positioned around how Meta’s ecosystem actually works:

What You’re Setting Up

Meta uses a Pixel ID to track activity and build audiences across its platforms.

Once installed, the Meta Pixel allows you to:

  • Track fan interactions

  • Build custom audiences

  • Retarget fans across Facebook and Instagram

For AndR Fan Capture, a single Pixel ID is all you need to get started.

Why This Matters for AndR

Every Fan Capture click is intent.

When you connect your Meta Pixel:

  • Every fan interaction becomes part of your retargeting audiences

  • You can reconnect with fans after they leave your link

  • You build a persistent audience layer across campaigns, releases, and tours

This turns Fan Capture into a continuous growth system, not just a redirect.

If you haven’t set up your links yet, start with Setting Up Fan Capture Links.

Step-by-Step Setup

If you’ve run ads before on Meta, you may already have one or more Pixels.

Unlike some platforms, Meta allows you to use multiple Pixels across different campaigns, brands, or collaborators.

Choosing your setup

  • Use one Pixel if you want a unified audience across everything

  • Use multiple Pixels if you want clean separation between campaigns or stakeholders

Both approaches work inside AndR. The structure depends on how you want to operate your audience layer.

1A. I already have a Meta Pixel I want to use

Go to Events Manager inside Meta.

Select the Pixel you want to use and copy the Pixel ID.

You can choose:

  • A single Pixel for your entire artist ecosystem

  • Multiple Pixels for different campaigns, partners, or releases

This gives you flexibility in how you segment and activate audiences.

1B. I don’t have a Meta Pixel yet or want a new one

In Events Manager:

  1. Click Connect Data Sources

  2. Select Web

  3. Choose Meta Pixel (sometimes shown as Dataset depending on UI updates)

  4. Create a new Pixel and name it based on your use case

For example:

  • Artist-level Pixel

  • Album or campaign-specific Pixel

  • Collaboration or label Pixel

Once created, Meta will generate your Pixel ID.

You do not need to install any code manually for AndR.

Important nuance

Meta is gradually shifting language from “Pixel” → “Dataset”, but:

  • The Pixel ID still exists

  • It’s still what you paste into AndR

  • Functionally, nothing changes for your setup

2. Add Your Pixel to AndR

Now go to your Fan Capture setup inside AndR.

  • In the Linked Pixels section

  • Paste your Meta Pixel ID

That’s it.

Every fan who clicks your Fan Capture link will now trigger a PageView event before reaching the destination.

No scripts, no manual installation, no dependency on the destination platform.

What this unlocks

You can now:

  • Capture high-intent fans at the moment they act

  • Build Custom Audiences inside Meta

  • Retarget fans across Facebook and Instagram

  • Optimize campaigns using real engagement data
